FAQs
How do I make an appointment?
You can contact any of our five offices by telephone during office hours, which are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. You can also use the enquiry form on this page at any time. Let us know briefly what you need help with, and we will arrange an appointment with the right solicitor for your matter. We aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day. If your matter is urgent, please mention this when you call.
What are your office hours?
Our offices are open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. We can arrange appointments outside these hours in certain circumstances. Please ask when booking if you need flexibility.
What should I bring to our first meeting?
Bring any documents relevant to your matter. This might include correspondence, contracts, court papers, or property details depending on your situation. Also bring photo identification (passport or driving licence) and proof of your current address (such as a recent utility bill or bank statement). We need these to verify your identity as required by law. If you are unsure what to bring, ask when you book your appointment and we will advise.
Do you offer video consultations?
Yes. We offer telephone and video consultations for clients who prefer not to travel to our offices or who have mobility, health, or time constraints. Video meetings work well for many matters, though some situations benefit from meeting in person. We will advise if that is the case. Just let us know your preference when booking and we will make arrangements.
Do you handle cases outside Aberdeen?
Yes. With offices in Aberdeen, Turriff, Elgin, Banff, and Buckie, we serve clients throughout North-East Scotland. Our solicitors regularly appear in courts across the region, and we can arrange home visits for clients with mobility difficulties. If required, we can make arrangements to cover cases in any court in Scotland.
How long will my case take?
Timescales vary depending on the type of matter and its complexity. Some matters can be resolved in weeks, while others, particularly court proceedings, may take considerably longer. We will give you a realistic indication of timescales at the outset and keep you updated on progress throughout.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by bank transfer, debit card, and credit card. For property transactions, completion funds must be transferred by bank transfer. We will provide our bank details and payment references with your invoice.
Do you offer payment plans?
We can offer payment plans on a case-by-case basis. This allows you to spread the cost of legal fees over an agreed period. We will discuss payment arrangements during your initial consultation and confirm terms in writing before work begins. Please ask if you would like to discuss this option.
Can I use Legal Aid?
We are registered to provide Legal Aid for eligible clients in criminal defence, family law, and certain civil matters. Eligibility depends on your financial circumstances and the type of case. We will assess whether you qualify at your first appointment and explain what contribution (if any) you might need to make. If you are not eligible for Legal Aid, we will discuss other funding options including our payment plans.
